How to Change Garden Light Bulb?

2025-09-26

Garden Lights are widely used in residential areas, parks, and landscapes to enhance safety and aesthetics. Over time, even high-quality LED garden lights may require bulb or module replacement to maintain performance. Here is a step-by-step guide to safely change a garden light bulb.

Step 1: Turn Off the Power

  • Always cut off the power supply before handling any electrical fixture.

  • For safety, use a tester to confirm that no current is flowing to the garden light.

Step 2: Open the Fixture

  • Most garden lights are designed with a removable or hinged top cover for easy access.

  • Loosen screws or release the latch to open the housing.

  • Be careful to avoid damaging waterproof seals that ensure outdoor protection.

Step 3: Remove the Old Bulb or Module

  • Locate the light source inside the fixture, which may be a replaceable LED module or bulb.

  • Disconnect the power connector and carefully unscrew or release the old part.

  • Dispose of the used bulb according to local regulations.

Step 4: Install the New Bulb

  • Insert a new bulb or LED module that matches the wattage and voltage rating of the original unit.

  • Reconnect the power cable securely to avoid loose connections.

  • Ensure the bulb is aligned correctly for optimal light distribution.

Step 5: Close and Seal the Fixture

  • Close the top cover and tighten screws or latches to restore the IP-rated waterproof protection.

  • Make sure no gaps remain where dust or moisture could enter.

Step 6: Restore Power and Test

  • Turn the power back on and check the illumination.

  • Verify that the light beam covers the intended area and operates without flicker.

Maintenance Tips

  • Clean the lens or cover during replacement to maintain brightness.

  • Regularly inspect surge protectors and connectors for signs of wear.

  • Use high-quality certified components to extend service life.
